Prayer Shawls
This ministry of volunteers provides fabric, sewing of shawls, and drawing of
"squares" that are sewn onto shawls to form pockets. Based on the idea of
the Jewish tallit, these shawls are taken to the homebound and grieving to
remind them that God can be found, God loves them, and they are part of a
community of faith. Prayers are placed in the two pockets that are formed
by sewing two muslin "squares" onto the fabric at both ends of the shawl.
Senior New Ways offers workshops and classes on making Prayer Shawls.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is another organization in which compassion and
the love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful
ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. See
their website for additional information and instructions for knitted and
crocheted shawls.
